Level 2 Security Guard Training (Unarmed Security Guard)
Level II (Level 2) Non Commissioned Security, or Unarmed Security, is the introductory 6-hour training class that covers the basics of becoming a Non Commissioned or Unarmed Security Guard in Texas. This course provides the Level II training as required by the State of Texas. Once complete, you will be provided with your certificate of completion, which is to be submitted and approved by the State (State has it’s own guidelines/regulations/fees). Once approved by the State, you will be able to work legally as a Non Commissioned/Unarmed security officer in the State of Texas. You complete this class before taking Level III (Level 3) security class.

We ask that as a consideration to those with allergies, that you do not wear perfumes or fragrances during the class.
If you are interested in applying for this class, you should verify that your criminal background is free of convictions that are felonies convictions that are Class A and Class B Misdemeanors in the last five years. After you receive your certificate of completion for having completed this training, State of Texas will require that you get fingerprinted by the FBI (they charge a fee) and submit an application for your license to be activated (State of Texas charges an application/registration fee).
Level 3 Security Guard Training (Armed Security Guard)
The Level III (Level 3), 40 hour training program is what you take if you are looking to carry a firearm as a Commissioned, or Armed Security Guard. This course, as required by the State of Texas and the Private Security Bureau, will include a classroom session and a firearms range qualification. You take this class after completing your Level 2 security training course.
Our Level 3 class is taught by an instructor that is currently active working security. What does this mean for you? It means that you’ll have an instructor, with on-hand knowledge and experience teaching you. Our instructor will not just read from a book for the entire class. Our classes are engaging and interactive!

For the classroom portion of your training, it is recommended that you bring a notebook or notepad with pen or pencil for note taking.
A jacket or sweater for the classroom gets chilly. We ask that as a consideration to those with allergies, that you do not wear perfumes or fragrances during the class.
During the firearms range portion of the class, you are required to qualify with a handgun. The handgun must be at least a .38 caliber revolver or at least a 9 mm semiautomatic. Bring your handgun to the range (not to the classroom), 50 rounds of ammunition (you are responsible for purchasing your own ammo), hearing and eye protection for the range. Please note that if you qualify with a revolver, while on duty as a Security Officer, you will only be allowed to carry a revolver. If you qualify with a semiautomatic, while on duty working as a Security Officer, you may carry a semiautomatic .9mm or .40 caliber. In addition, you may qualify with a shotgun. Note, there are extra range fees associated with qualifying with a shotgun.
You need to be Level 2 certified before you can take the Level 3 class. If you are interested in applying for this class, you should verify that your criminal background is free of convictions that are felonies, convictions that are Class A and Class B Misdemeanors in the last five years. After you receive your certificate of completion for having passed this training, the State will require that you get fingerprinted (they’ll charge a fee) and you’ll have to pay the State an application/registration fee as well (State will charge you a fee for that). Check the Private Security Bureau’s website for a complete list of steps that you have to take in order to get your license activated.
Level 3 Security Guard Requalifications
Every two years, you’re required to Re-qualify in order to maintain your Level 3 security license. This is a 6 hour refresher course. Your Requalification will also include going to qualify at the range.
Level 4 Personal Protection Officer (Body Guard)
* Please note that we will soon be updating our website with more detailed information on the Level 4 (Personal Protection – Body Guard) training. It will include information on the physical training part of the class. To our knowledge, we are the ONLY security training academy that has a hands-on physical training for Level 4 Personal Protection. We have teamed up with a martial arts facility to provide the physical training.

Houston SEAL Patrol Division LLC follows all materials and training as required by the Texas Private Security Bureau. What makes our classroom training approach interesting is that our instructors are not boring! Our instructors have decades of active experience working security, and will provide you with real life experiences and scenarios that correspond with the security training material. Our instructors keep classes interesting by presenting relevant, current, and actual work experience cases, allowing you to more readily learn the material. We will provide you with up to date and current materials (no old, outdated videos and no old, outdated materials). Let’s be honest, no one wants to sit in a class where the instructor monotonously reads off a book for the entire class.
